BANJARMASINPOST.CO.ID - An adult orangutan has reportedly entered a resident's land in Habau Village, RT 06, Banua Lawas District, Tabalong Regency, South Kalimantan. This rare primate, endemic to Kalimantan, has been seen entering the land, including the residents' plantations, for the past four days. Disturbed by the orangutan's presence, which has been damaging coconut and sago palm plantations, local residents reported it to the relevant authorities. Following the report, joint officers from the South Kalimantan Natural Resources Conservation Agency (BKSDA), specifically the Banua Anam Resort, Tabalong Forest Management Unit (KPH), Banua Lawas Police, members of the Habau Village Consultative Body (BPD), the neighborhood head, and local residents visited the location on Monday (July 27, 2026).
