When the noble Tamino sets out to rescue Pamina, daughter of the enigmatic Queen of the Night, he is joined by the ever‑charming bird‑catcher Papageno and armed with magical instruments that guide their way. Their quest leads them into a world of shifting truths and trials of character that test courage, love, and wisdom. As light battles darkness, Tamino and Pamina discover that enlightenment, and happiness, come to those who seek harmony with an open heart. Stafford Opera Troupe was founded in 2016 by a team of dedicated volunteers. Our mission? To bring the beauty of opera to the students and community of Stafford, Fredericksburg, and the surrounding areas. It all started in Mrs. Bonita Keene’s chorus classroom at Mountain View High School in Stafford County. After several alumni performed for her students, the young singers’ responses to learning about and hearing opera were so enthusiastic, it made us realize how little opportunity they have to experience opera and classical voice in their hometown - and we knew that had to change! So, we teamed up to craft an experience that would allow young singers to delve into the world of opera, operetta, and musical theater, developing their musical abilities and becoming well-rounded performers. Stafford Opera Troupe found its home at Mountain View High School for four years. After a break due to the pandemic, we are excited to return to the stage for our seventh season performing Mozart’s The Magic Flute at Stafford High School. Stafford Opera Troupe wouldn't be possible without the generosity of our supporters; we are funded through community donations. We believe students shouldn't have to pay thousands of dollars in order to grow their craft. In order for us to remain tuition-free, we depend upon the community to come alongside us and help cover the costs of accompanists, production expenses, promotional needs and more.
