LO QUE APRENDÍ / Alba Bautista y Teresa Gorospe / 03. ¿Lecciones aprendidas de vuestra entrenadora?

Alba Bautista and Teresa Gorospe are members of the Spanish national rhythmic gymnastics team. They both began practicing the sport when they were just four and six years old, respectively. As young girls, they left their hometowns to move to the High-Performance Center in Madrid, where they can now combine their athletic careers with their studies. Alba and Teresa emphasize the importance of their various coaches in their careers and in achieving their sporting successes. They highlight the values they have been taught and point out that "hard work is what works." They particularly appreciate their coach, Marta Linares, for her determination to achieve her goals and her friendly and approachable personality. She has taught them the importance of having short- and long-term goals and striving to reach them every day. Currently, Alba and Teresa are focusing their energy on preparing for the Rhythmic Gymnastics World Championships, which will be held in Valencia this August. There, they will try to secure one, or perhaps even two, individual spots for the 2024 Paris Olympic Games. The role of the coach in athletic success is fundamental. No one is better suited than the athletes themselves to recall their crucial contribution. In "What I Learned from My Coach," the work of coaches comes to life through first-hand accounts from those who know them best.
