Why food poverty persists | Martin Caraher | TEDxLondonSalon

What do food banks say about us? Martin describes how even in developed cities, thousands of people experience food insecurity. He reveals that hunger and food poverty persist just beneath the surface of London’s vibrant eating scene. Martin is Professor of food and health policy at the Centre for Food Policy at City, University of London. He originally trained as an environmental health officer in Dublin before moving into public health and health promotion work. His MSc and PhD focussed on health related issues. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at http://ted.com/tedx
