Süleymaniye Mosque: A Masterpiece of Ottoman Architecture | FULL DOCUMENTARY
The Süleymaniye Mosque was built in 1550 by the famous architect, Sinan in honour of Süleyman the Magnificent. Its harmonious proportions, cascading dome, and interior bathed in light, make it an exceptional building. Its four minarets signify that it is a 'selâtin' mosque, built by the sultans or their families. It is one of the most significant examples of Ottoman architecture and unquestionably the largest imperial mosque in Istanbul. Every day, with Friday being the most popular day, worshippers gather once again to pray to Allah.
