Stimulate children's gross and fine motor skills through play. Stimulation of gross and fine motor skills in children is very important to support their age-appropriate growth and development. 1. Gross Motor Stimulation Gross motor skills are the ability to use large muscles to move. Examples of stimulation: Ages 0–6 months: Tummy time (placing the baby on their stomach while awake). Moving the baby's arms and legs. Ages 6–12 months: Encouraging the baby to crawl. Helping the baby stand and walk holding on. Ages 1–3 years: Walking, running, climbing up and down stairs. Playing ball (kicking, throwing, catching). Dancing to music. Ages 3–5 years: Jumping, riding a tricycle. Jumping rope. Playing in the playground. 2. Fine Motor Stimulation Fine motor skills are the ability to use small muscles, especially the fingers and hands. Examples of stimulation: Ages 0–6 months: Provide brightly colored toys to hold. Encourage the baby to reach for objects. Ages 6–12 months: Transfer objects from one hand to the other. Stacking simple blocks. Ages 1–3 years: Scribbling with crayons. Putting objects into containers. Assembling simple puzzles. Ages 3–5 years: Drawing and coloring. Cutting with safe scissors. Stringing beads. Playing with plasticine. Principles of stimulation for children: Do it according to age and developmental stage. Do it regularly and enjoyably. Give praise when the child successfully completes an activity.
