Is it really worth melting down aluminum cans? 🔥 In this experiment, I tested 100 Volt cans to find out how much aluminum can actually be recovered by melting them down in a homemade crucible furnace. The 100 cans weighed a total of 1420 grams, but after the entire melting process, I only obtained 860 grams of ingot aluminum. The rest ended up as slag, resulting in a much greater loss than I expected.
