The self-declared micronation of Sealand - based on a former gun emplacement several miles off the British coast - has long asserted its independence, and has a colourful history including an attempted armed coup. Maintaining a constant presence on the tiny platform became more difficult during the Covid-19 pandemic, but the principality has so far remained virus free, one of few nations to achieve such a feat.
