The case involves allegations of accepting 900,000 baht in bribes to help secure local government positions. The Deputy Governor, Mr. Rungruang, was initially taken into custody by officers from the Anti-Corruption Division and remanded to the Criminal Court for Corruption and Misconduct, Region 9. He is accused of intermediaryly accepting 900,000 baht from three auxiliary police officers, claiming the money would be used to help them pass the civil service entrance exam. The court granted him temporary bail, using his position as collateral, with conditions: a 100,000 baht fine for failure to report, and revocation of bail if he interferes with evidence. Following his release, the Deputy Governor immediately left the court in a pickup truck. Meanwhile, Pol. Maj. Gen. Jaroonkiat Panngew, Deputy Commander of the Central Investigation Bureau, led a search of the Deputy Governor's residence for further evidence. Initial reports indicate the nature of the findings are unknown. Most recently, the Department of Provincial Administration has ordered the Deputy Governor's temporary suspension and initiated a serious disciplinary investigation.
