Does Russia See Ireland As the "Weak Link" in Europe in Navy Defences? | The Tonight Show

Ciara is joined by Cathal Berry TD, Alan Farrell TD, Mick Barry TD and Political Editor Daniel McConnell to discuss Ireland's naval defences. Cathal Berry explains what "hybrid warfare" is and how Russia may be thinking outside the box in warfare. Daniel McDonnell rejects statements the Minister for Defence made about Ireland's naval defences, stating that Simon Coveney is "absolutely 100% wrong." Daniel tells Ciara that Ireland does not have a radar system and that "we rely on the kindness of our neighbours." Cathal Berry echoes Cathal's words and rejects Minister Coveney's words saying that "we are the weakest link" in Europe. Ciara turns her attention to Alan Farrell and states, "Alan Farrell, that sounds a little bit embarrassing..." Alan admits that the incredibly important international infrastructure in Irish territory is "clearly not" well protected. Alan recognises there is a legislation issue in regard to our naval defences and states it's a "quirk of legislation well before my time." He tells Ciara the government will have to "reassess that."
