The all-new BMW X1 luxury compact SUV could be the new benchmark for premium crossover buyers. But only if you choose the right spec. That's because the base model version sold in Australia may be cheaper, but it gets a powertrain that won't suit everyone's tastes. There is a more powerful petrol model, as well, and if you want a version that still runs on dinosaur juice, it's the one to pick.
