In this latest episode of my devlog series for UpperCart, a game I made for Steam, we tackled a very problematic issue that many game developers face after working on a game for a long time: Burnout. This concept, which we can translate as "brain drain" or "brain burnout," how it makes us lose interest in our meticulously crafted game, why we don't want to work at all during this phase, how I got caught up in it, and how I overcame it. We also looked at the "UI" work I turned to in order to escape it. As a guest in our video, we tried to get some insights on Burnout from Ahmet Akkulak, the creator of the fantastic game Sodaman.
