The Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) Class I Palu Geophysical Station recorded at least eight aftershocks after a 6.7 magnitude earthquake struck Central Sulawesi on Tuesday (June 16, 2026). The main earthquake occurred at 11:27 a.m. WITA (Central Indonesian Time), with its epicenter located on land, approximately 42 kilometers southeast of Palu City, at coordinates 1.03° South Latitude and 120.24° East Longitude, at a depth of 10 kilometers.
