Americans March Through London (1942)
Titles read: "AMERICANS MARCH THROUGH LONDON". London. Various shots of American troops - soldiers, sailors and marines - marching through the city of London. This is the first American ceremonial parade of the Second World War. A large crowd watches, cheers and applauds. They pass St Paul's Cathedral. Allied flags are carried. At the rear of the parade we can see some girls marching along with linked arms - groupies? (Who can blame them - American soldiers are so handsome!). The parade reaches Guildhall and the troops go inside. Sir John Laurie Lord Mayor of London is at the entrance of Guildhall to welcome the guests, who include Major General Lee and Mr Brendan Bracken. Inside, we see the servicemen sitting at long tables where they had a lunch of soup, cold chicken, jacket potatoes and salad and a beer. L/S of the Stars and Stripes (American) flag flying over Guildhall. FILM ID:1336.21 FOR LICENSING ENQUIRIES VISIT http://www.britishpathe.com/
