Nepal Was Always in My Blood. Now I Understand Why.

There’s a place my grandparents always spoke of with profound reverence. A place woven into the fabric of my family’s history. Nepal. For decades, Nepal, and particularly Pokhara, lingered in stories, in grainy 16mm film, in the rituals and rhythms passed down through generations. But I had never been. In this episode, I travel to Pokhara, a city nestled beneath the mighty Annapurna range of the Himalayas, to walk in the footsteps of those who came before me. Along the way, I meet remarkable people shaping the future of Nepal through community, hospitality, and education. I visit the home of the Gurkhas in Pokhara, where my grandfather once served. I share meals, trek in the mountains, and take to the skies above the Himalayas in a flight that left me changed. This isn’t one of our regular travel guides. It’s personal. It’s about legacy, memory, and finally placing my own pin on the map.
