Why I left the Legion.
DISCLAIMER (read before making any rash remarks): This video is entirely my opinion and interpretation of how i perceived the legion, in comparison with past military experiences. I met some guys who did love the legion, they were in 1REC. Legionnaires in 1REC seem to be the happiest, there is quite a large English Mafia there. 1REC was the Regiment i requested. The slavs do love 2REP though. Some of you seem to think I am completely putting down the military life, this is not true. I understand how you feel about your achievements as i have my own within the CF. My expectations ended up being far too high. I was given the impression the Foreign Legion was something it was not, this is no one's fault but mine. I have all the respect in the world for those who choose the military life. The legion is great for those less fortunate. It was by no means too hard or too easy, I just felt my place was elsewhere now. NOT ALL of the leadership is completely "****ed" either, just many, especially in 4RE. Power tripping galore without purpose. There are some checked out dudes though who i respect. When i requested to leave, they offered me a 4 month "thinking" period if i were to return in, I could go straight to regiment. If I return after the 4 months I must redo the training in Castel. Others who left with me were given no such deal. Some can never return. I am in touch with a few guys back in the legion still and have heard our section in Castel was one of the worst and some of the worst leadership as well. My experience may greatly differ from yours. luck of the draw, but I felt no urge to stick around. I have stated my reasons for leaving in the video but i will also add that since i do come from Canada, i can make considerably more money here than what the legion has to offer. And as much I hate it, cash is king. Quoted from the Caporal-Chef in charge of my "going civil group": "the smart ones always leave."
