VALJOUX 7734 | Legendary movement in vintage Breitling & Heuer, also affordable watches like ARVOR!
This video is supposed to be a love letter towards the Valjoux 7734 movement and all the small brand watch gems, which saw the light of day solely based on the affordability and robustness of that 3rd party offering. The shift from expensive column wheel chronographs towards the 7730 series with a simpler, much easier to produce cam-lever principle opened the door for affordable vintage pieces today, which also provide a level of serviceability due to the ubiquitous availability of spare parts. In this video, I want to present the history of the Valjoux 7734 series, its variants and show an exemplary watch with a unique design, this Arvor Chrono from the 70s and a plethora of other watches, that probably owe their existence to that movement. In turn, crazy niche designs were made possible and I would like to maybe spark your interest into this simpler, yet intriguing part of vintage watches!
