They then traveled to Bareilly and applied to the district administration to complete the religious conversion process. After converting to Islam, Majveen changed her name to Lakshmi. Pandit KK Shankhdhar, director of the ashram, stated that after the necessary procedures were completed, the girl underwent a purification ceremony and the couple was married according to Vedic rites. The wedding ceremony also included the varmala, mangalsutra, and saptapadi rituals. This has become a topic of discussion in the marriage community. Both have described their decision as voluntary and wished for a happy married life.
