Dr Michael Guillen reflects on moment he felt ‘buried alive’ in near-death trip to Titanic
Dr Michael Guillen has reflected on the moment he felt “buried alive” after his submersible experienced an issue during its underwater tour of the Titanic. The former ABC News science editor explains how his submersible got caught in an underwater current which slapped them into the Titanic’s propellor. Dr Guillen said it was the most terrifying experience of his life as he slowly came to peace with the grave situation. “As I was trying to think of a way out, I realised no, this is not like your car is stuck in the mud and you can call the towing service and they can tow you out – there’s nobody around there,” he told Sky News host Erin Molan. “The North Atlantic is in the middle of nowhere, period.”
