Breckenridge - BreckConnect Gondola | Ride Downhill [4K]

Overview: The BreckConnect Gondola at Breckenridge Ski Resort is an eight person gondola system, that connects the town of Breckenridge to Breckenridge Ski Resort. The gondola starts in town, and brings riders to the base areas of Peak 7, or Peak 8. The gondola was installed by Leitner - Poma in 2006, and connects many areas of the mountain that were previously only accessible by shuttle. The BreckConnect has four separate terminals where riders can load & unload, which are the Gondola Parking lot (bottom terminal), Shock Hill Station, Peak 7 Station, and the Peak 8 Station, which is where the lift ends. At each station, riders can get on or off whenever they choose. Those stations are as follows: Breckenridge Station: At the bottom of the Gondola, all riders start in town of Breckenridge in what's called the Breckenridge Station. Named after a narrow gauge train station nearby, this is the first point of entry for most guests that ride to the mountain. It is on North Main Street, and is a couple blocks away from the town center. Next to the bottom terminal, there is also the Main Street Trolley, Breck Free Ride and Summit Stage bus & shuttle turnaround, as well as the Red Route; a shuttle directly operated by Breckenridge Resort for transit amongst the numerous lots (which are also owned by Breckenridge Resort) around the bottom of the gondola. Once you load a cabin, you travel over North Park Avenue to the next stop, which is Shock Hill. Shock Hill: Shock Hill is a private community based housing area, with the Shock Hill stop only serving to provide access to the town of Breckenridge and Breckenridge Ski Resort to the many homeowners and residents who live there. This stop only exists because of the agreement between the homeowners of Shock Hill and Breckenridge Ski Resort, and therefore does not have any points of interest or other attractions (other than being a nice stop halfway through your ride). Peak 7: One of two major stops on the gondola route, Peak 7 is one of two access points to Breckenridge Ski Resort. The Grand Lodge on Peak 7 and the Crystal Peak Lodge are the two main hotels that are on the right side of the gondola entrance/exit area, on lookers right. The Independence "SuperChair" is accessible from this exit point as well, and is only a short distance away from the gondola itself. The Independence chair is the main chairlift for the Peak 7 area, and is also the only lift from the base of Peak 7 itself. Peak 8: The last stop on the BreckConnect gondola, Peak 8 is the biggest base area on the mountain, and center of Breckenridge Ski Resort. The Grand Colorado on Peak 8 and One Ski Hill Place are the two big hotels that are inbetween the gondola's exit & entry area, and are generally one of the most crowded places at the resort during the winter, and summer months. During the winter, Peak 8 is one of two main beginner areas for people to learn to ski and ride, and is also where four other SuperChairs are located as well (Rip's Ride, Five Chair, Colorado SuperChair, and Rocky Mountain). There are also plenty of bars, restaurants, aprẻs, and regular lodge food amenities as well, that hours vary from day to day. During the summer months, there are also plenty of fun activities to do as well from the Peak 8 base area too! Some activities include scenic lift rides on the Colorado SuperChair (as well as mountain biking on the latter), alpine slides on the Five Chair, a mini golf course near the T-Bar restaurant, a mountain coaster near Rip's Ride, and the Epic Adventure, at the top of the Colorado SuperChair. Other Important Facts: The BreckConnect gondola requires no ticket of any kind to ride, and has a very efficient uphill and downhill capacity. In total, the lift carries almost 3,000 riders per hour, and is one of the longest gondolas in the United States. It is a quick and convenient way to access the mountain on peak days, and if you don't mind paying the parking fee (which is $30 per vehicle - thanks Vail) is very easy to use. The hours for the gondola vary from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm, but in general if you are lucky, you can get on before and after these times.
