Pyotr Tchaikovsky. Opera "The Queen of Spades" at "Genius of Place" festival 2026 in Votkinsk

In 2026, the large-scale ""Genius of the Place"" festival became the third series of musical tributes in the birthplaces of great Russian composers. On May 7, artists from the Mariinsky and Bolshoi Theaters presented Pyotr Tchaikovsky's opera-symphony ""The Queen of Spades"" in Votkinsk. The performance featured a large-scale version by Honored Artist of Russia Alexei Stepanyuk. We present a recording of the performance, starring Dmitry Golovnin, Irina Churilova, Ekaterina Lukash, Anna Kiknadze, Vyacheslav Vasilyev, and Vladislav Kupriyanov. Valery Gergiev conducted.
