Black Mountain: Highest Point in Kentucky

Short video showcasing a visit to the summit area of Big Black Mountain, in Harlan County near the town of Lynch, Kentucky. This is the highest point in Kentucky. The area is all private property owned by a mining company, but thanks to interest by highpointers, the company does allow visitors to the summit provided they sign a legal waiver releasing the company from any liability. You also have to agree to stay only on the road to the summit and not to interfere with any mining activity. There is nothing spectacular about the summit itself, just go there so you can say you were at Kentucky's highest point. I drove up from Appalachia, Virginia, via Highway 160 and there are some spectacular views all along the highway as you climb the mountain, there are also some decent views on the Kentucky side between the summit and the town of Lynch.
