FRIED CHANNA(CHICKPEAS) AND SPLIT PEAS | Trini Cookbook
We made this great snack food just frying chickpeas (channa) and split peas. The video shows how to make the chickpeas and the later portion shows the split peas. The recipe is only shown for the chickpeas BUT its the same EXACT recipe for the split peas just different pea. See recipe below. Fried Channa OR Split Peas 1lb chickpeas OR split peas 2 scotch bonnet peppers 1 whole garlic 9 cultranto leaves 1 tsp salt 4 cups oil 1tsp oil 1. Soak 1lb chickpeas overnight in 5 cups of water and then drained. 2. Fry in 4 cups of oil for 20 minutes (make sure oil is hot before adding). Ensure that all of the chickpeas are covered (add more oil if necessary or change type of pot used). 3. Blend together pepper, peeled garlic, and culantro. Fry blended seasoning with 1 tsp of oil for 30 seconds. 4. Add seasoning to hot fried chickpeas 5. Add salt 6. Mix 7. Done Thank you so much for watching...really.
