Yves Klein - Symphonie – Monotone-Silence (1947 ... 1961) | EnsembleSpectrum

Last piece from 9-hour-long marathon of music "Sleepover with EnsembleSpectrum" at Nova Cvernovka, Bratislava, Slovakia. Iconic monochronous symphony consisting of only one chord and long silence dwarfs the listeners impact of other "silent" pieces (Cage, Schulhoff) by its sheer size. The audience is being "pumped" by the D-major chord for 20 minutes which in itself creates weird kind of "silence", an inner silence, where the reality of "outside" is blocked by the wall of sound of the orchestra. On the other hand, when the curtain is lifted and the participant can "breath" again, one has the feeling of total freedom, calmness and piece. Symphony – Monotone-Silence was performed between 05:35AM - 06:05AM in the morning of the 15th of September 2021. Performed by: EnsembleSpectrum Conducted by: Matej Sloboda
