Living the Nisei Dream: Kaze Jones and Bunkado

Watch the special live stream kick-off of our new four-part series, "Living the Nisei Dream," which premiered on Saturday, February 27, 2021. Hosted by writer, comedian and actor Sierra Katow with guest, hip-hop artist and educator, Kaze Jones and special feature by Irene Tsukada Simonian, owner of Bunka-do. Filmed (socially distanced) in iconic Little Tokyo, including GFBNEC's Defining Courage exhibit, Bunkado and Far Bar, this inaugural two-video segment explores how the accomplishments of the Nisei veterans ensured that Yonsei, Gosei and Shin-Nikkei Japanese Americans could pursue their own dreams and passions. This unique series is one of the many exciting ways GFBNEC is enhancing and expanding our outreach to all audiences.
