A Quick Morning Photography Shoot Before the Fog Disappeared

Today I'm chasing morning fog in Finland with my Pentax 67 medium format film camera. Our dog woke me up at 5:30 a.m. While it was outside taking care of its morning business, I captured a quick drone shot, grabbed my Pentax 67, and headed out to chase the morning fog. Apologies for the wind noise. The cameras' built-in microphones picked it up quite strongly in some parts of the video. Our summer cabin is located in an area where morning fog is common. The flat landscape and the nearby river create ideal conditions for it to form. The fog usually lingers until the sun rises high enough above the horizon and the warming air begins to move. The exception is when there's a thick layer of cloud cover. At this time of year in Finland, the sun barely sets at all and remains above the horizon almost throughout the night. The film images shown in this video were digitized quickly for the purpose of making this video. The negatives were developed with darkroom printing in mind, so the final prints will have a different look and tonal range. Which photograph is your favorite? Sillä välin kun se kävi pihalla aamutoimillaan, kuvasin nopean drone-otoksen, nappasin Pentax 67 mukaan ja lähdin jahtaamaan sumuisia maisemia. Pahoittelut tuulen äänestä – kameroiden sisäiset mikrofonit nappasivat sitä mukaan paikoin melko voimakkaasti. Kesämökkimme sijaitsee alueella, jossa esiintyy usein aamuisin sumua. Tasainen maasto ja lähellä virtaava joki luovat sille otolliset olosuhteet. Sumu hälvenee yleensä vasta, kun aurinko nousee riittävän korkealle horisontin yläpuolelle ja lämpenevä ilma alkaa liikkua. Poikkeuksena ovat päivät, jolloin pilvipeite on hyvin paksu. Tähän vuodenaikaan aurinko ei Suomessa juuri laske lainkaan, vaan pysyy lähes koko yön horisontin yläpuolella. Videolla näkyvät filmikuvat on digitoitu nopeasti tätä videota varten. Negatiivit on kehitetty vedostamista ajatellen, joten lopullisissa vedoksissa kuvien sävyt tulevat vielä muuttumaan.
