Literary critic and historian Giulio Ferroni, Professor Emeritus of Italian Literature at Sapienza University of Rome and Central Advisor to the Dante Alighieri Society, offers in these short video lectures an overview of Italian women writers from the Middle Ages to the present. A very timely topic: as we know, for centuries women were completely marginalized from the cultural world, and only in the twentieth century did some emerge, even with exceptional achievements. While there are very few examples of women authors in the early centuries of our literature, we have many great ones in contemporary times.
