K.Ertel - 3rd/4th Grade Multiage Reading Groups
In our multiage reading groups, on Mondays we have a 45 min. block of direct instruction on the given language arts unit of the week. On Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday we have a brief review of the content that we discussed on Monday along with 2- 15 minute centers. The centers vary from independent work related to the main focus from Monday, language arts center, game center, listening/fluency center and a book center with me. This video is an example of a typical Thursday language arts/reading lesson. We focused on Pourquoi tales. I had the students complete a making connections graphic organizer on the two Pourquoi tales we read on Monday in the independent center. There was a homophones worksheet in the language arts center. The students played a Prefixes/Suffixes Bingo game in the game center. I had a Henry and Mudge series at the listening center. The students drew a picture of their favorite character or scene on a whiteboard after the story was over.
