The Distance to the Stars is a 12-track literary music album inspired by the Korean short story “The Distance to the Stars.” The album follows two wounded young people who meet again after years apart and ride a small delivery scooter to a dark rural hill, searching for meteorites. What they are really searching for is not only a fallen stone, but a reason to keep moving through poverty, failed futures, dead fathers, tired mothers, and all the words they never got to say. Musically, the album blends slow Korean indie soul, nocturnal R&B, melancholic folk ballad, and cinematic blues. The sound is quiet, restrained, and intimate: husky vocals, soft Rhodes piano, warm bass grooves, brushed drums, muted guitars, and a fragile sense of hope. This is not an album about easy comfort.
