This Are The Identities Of The 24 Elders! (The 24 Elders Explained)
One of the most bone chilling beings in the Book of Revelation are the 24 elders. As their name sounds, the 24 elders are an elevated order of beings that sit just next to God's throne. Revelation 4 verse 4: "Surrounding the throne were twenty-four other thrones, and seated on them were twenty-four elders. They were dressed in white and had crowns of gold on their heads." But one may ask; who are the 24 elders? What do they represent? Why do they wear crowns on their heads? And why did the Bible not talk about them in any other book except the Book of Revelation. But since they are not really talked about into details in the Bible, we came up with three different Bible theories that unveils everything there is to know about the 24 elders. The first theory is that; The 24 Elders are not necessarily angels, but a representation of the old covenant and the new covenant; Revelation chapter 5 verse 9 to 10 - And they sung a new song, saying, Thou art worthy to take the book, and to open the seals thereof: for thou wast slain, and hast redeemed us to God by thy blood out of every kindred, and tongue, and people, and nation; And hast made us unto our God kings and priests: and we shall reign on the earth. If you study this scripture we just quoted very well, you will realise that the 24 elders made it clear that they were redeemed unto God by the blood of the lamb, and after their redemption, they were made kings and priests and they shall reign on the earth. So you might be asking yourself how exactly were the 24 elders redeemed by blood of the lamb, and if they are angelic creatures, then why will they bless the name of the lord for redeeming them through the blood of Christ that was shed on the cross because we know very well Jesus died for men not angels? In other to understand this, we red every scripture connected to the 24 elders and also went through several analysis by popular theologians and concluded that, the 24 elders are a combination of the foundations of the Old covenant and that of the new covenant. Here is why; The old covenant or the old testament was centered around the 12 sons of Jacob, who later became known as the 12 tribes of Israel. The 12 tribes are the tribe of Reuben, Simeon, Levi, Judah, Dan, Naphtali, Gad, Asher, Issachar, Zebulun, Joseph, and Benjamin and can be found in Genesis chapter 29 and chapter 30. Throughout the old covenants, these 12 tribes was the reference point God used to appoint prophets, priests, Judges and kings. The book of revelation also makes it clear that, 144,000 people will be picked out of these 12 tribes with 12,000 from each tribe which gives us a feel of how important these 12 tribes are to God Almighty even in the EndTimes. And at the Beginning of the New testament Church or the new covenant, God also choose for himself 12 men namely Peter; James; John; Andrew; Philip; Judas Iscariot; Matthew; Thomas; James, the son of Alpheus; Bartholomew; Judas Thaddeus; and Simon the zealot. These 12 men are the men who served as the pillars of the new testament Church, sending the message of the Gospel to all nations until their persecution. Revelation chapter 21 verse 14- And the walls of the city had twelve foundations, and in them the names of the twelve apostles of the Lamb. So the Bible makes it clear here that, the foundations of the new Jerusalem which shall emerge forth shall have the names of the 12 Apostles as it pillars, which practicality means that, the new covenant shall become the foundations of the kingdom, but the Bible also makes it clear in Revelation chapter 21 verse 12, that the names of the 12 tribes of Israel shall be on the gates of the new city, which represents the old covenant. So the 24 elders who are before the throne, testifying that they were redeemed by the blood of the lamb and have been made kings and priest are a representation of the 12 tribes of Israel and the 12 Apostles, who are the face of both the new and old covenant, and were given crowns as a result of their sactifice for the kingdom even at the point of their death, they also cast their crowns daily in praise to the lamb as a result of the great redemption they had obtained from the lamb who is Jesus Christ. Though this Revelation is much Biblical and has an unprecedented biblical foundation and roots, others also believe that, the 24 elders are part of a Heavenly Council; When you read the vision of John, you will understand that, aside beings like the 24 Elders, the are the 4 living creatures (Cherubims and Seraphim's), Ophanims and other throne creatures which surround God's throne. These creatures are known by many as the Heavenly council. And according to wide believes, they are a component of God's reign and rulership.
