6G welding test with tig fill and cap pass on a 3" XXH wall, with a full tig welding procedure. 6G is where the pipe is fixed at a 45-degree angle and welded in this fixed position. So, it basically covers flat, horizontal, vertical welding, and overhead in a single position. In this video, I will break down the steps to pass the 6G position test, starting with the root pass, and in the second video, I will show the steps from fill passes to finish with a multi-pass cap. The pipe welding techniques used, and the welding procedure is also identical to the AWS D1.1 and ASME Section IX welder performance qualification (WPQ) pipe welding certification.
