Massive drone attack on Moscow: the region's largest oil refinery is on fire

On the night of June 16 and in the morning, Moscow and the Moscow region were subjected to a massive drone attack. Russian authorities claim to have shot down dozens of targets, while local public groups report that drones attacked a Moscow oil refinery in the Kapotnya region. Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin spent several hours reporting on air defense operations and the destruction of drones approaching the city. According to him, air defense forces allegedly shot down more than 60 drones. This is a major Gazprom enterprise, providing more than 40% of the capital region’s fuel needs. According to the Telegram channel Astra, eyewitnesses recorded air defense activity in Pavlovsky Posad, Ramenskoye, and Zhukovsky in the Moscow region. Due to the attack, Rosaviatsiya imposed restrictions at Domodedovo, Sheremetyevo, Vnukovo, and Zhukovsky airports. The Russian Ministry of Defense stated that from 8:00 PM on June 15 to 7:00 AM on June 16, 172 drones were allegedly destroyed over Russian regions and occupied territories. General Staff of Ukraine previously reported that the Moscow Oil Refinery is capable of processing 11 million tons of oil per year and meeting 40-50% of Moscow's diesel and gasoline needs. Prior to today's attack, Moscow had already introduced restrictions at gas stations of 20 liters per vehicle following ongoing attacks on oil depots and other refineries. "Now we expect an even greater crisis. Muscovites can thank Putin for this every day and remember how they voted for him," said Andrey Kovalenko, head of the Center for Social Development. He noted that the ELOU AVT-6 unit, a primary oil refining unit on which the refinery's ability to operate, is on fire at the Moscow Oil Refinery.
