K 160 - A BRIEF HISTORY 1980 to 2026 - PART ONE - THE FIRST 25 YEARS

K 160 was purchased from the Victorian Railways by the Castlemaine & Maldon Railway Preservation Society in the late 1970s. This video covers the period from 1980 until 2005 and consists of Super 8 movie footage and photos (slides). Scenes include its first run in steam for the C&MRPS in December 1980, the first day of public operations in March 1986 and the official opening of the railway into Castlemaine in March 2005. The quality of the movie footage is poor when compared to todays standards, however, it is reproduced here because of its historical significance. Due to the poor sound quality of the movie footage, the video has been produced as a silent movie. Please turn the volume down when viewing this video. You might like to play your own background music, perhaps some classic Australian hits from the 80s! Part Two - Covering its recent overhaul and main line test runs will be posted shortly...
