On February 22, 2026, the boss of the Jalisco New Generation Cartel (CJNG), Nemesio Oseguera Cervantes alias "El Mencho", was killed in a massive military operation in Tapalpa. But how did the Mexican army track down the most wanted and elusive drug trafficker in the world? In this video, we reconstruct Operation Tapalpa minute by minute: from the fatal mistake that allowed intelligence to locate his hideout, to the assault by special forces, up to the violent armed firefight and the death of the boss during helicopter transport to Mexico City. We also analyze the brutal wave of cartel reprisals that brought the state of Jalisco to its knees in the hours that followed.
