It can be triggered by various factors such as infections ๐ฆ , multiple pregnancies ๐ถ๐ถ, uterine anomalies, and maternal conditions like hypertension or diabetes. The process begins with uterine contractions, often accompanied by back pain and pelvic pressure. These contractions can lead to changes in the cervix, causing it to dilate and efface prematurely. Infection is a common underlying cause, where inflammation leads to the release of prostaglandins, triggering contractions. Placental issues or an overstretched uterus, as seen in multiple pregnancies, can also contribute to this early labor. Management of preterm labor typically involves tocolytics to suppress contractions, corticosteroids to enhance fetal lung maturity, and sometimes magnesium sulfate for neuroprotection. Early detection and intervention are crucial to improving outcomes for both the mother and the baby. ๐ฉบ๐ฉโโ๏ธ #PretermLabor #PregnancyCare #MaternalHealth #NeonatalCare #PreventionAndManagement #Obstetrics #PregnancyComplications #HealthyPregnancy
