In this gouache tutorial I share how I think about color and light, as well as layering the foreground to achieve depth in the sand dune and grasses. I recommend you hunt down some references and try these techniques on your own a few times before going out to paint from life. I have been exploring our new area in the Northeast of Scotland's coast, and have found a lot of beautiful coastlines to paint. I especially love the area between Spey Bay and Gardenstown.
