It’s Only April… Are My Bees About to Swarm? 🐝

Is it too early for bees to swarm in April? That’s what I thought… until this inspection. In this video, I carry out one of my first proper spring inspection of 2026 and check whether my colony is starting to show signs of swarming. This is my first time bringing a colony through spring, as I only collected these bees in June 2025 — so everything I’m seeing now is completely new to me. The hive is strong for this time of year, with brood across both boxes, drones emerging, and a lot of activity. I spotted play cups and brood at different stages. This colony is building well. I talk through what I’m seeing and what I’m unsure about.
