Beppe Grillo - Discorso di fine anno e accenno alla ricerca Lavoro 2025

Text by Claudio Cominardi and Tiziana Ciprini Published on January 5, 2017 Technological innovation is revolutionizing our lives. Consider the impact it is having on the world of work, paving the way for both risks and opportunities in the workplace. Automation, artificial intelligence, nanotechnology, home automation, the Internet of Things, and robotics are already a reality, and their application has improved exponentially over the years. According to the World Economic Forum, 5 million jobs will be lost in the world's 15 largest economies between now and 2020. The Bank of England's chief economist, Andy Haldane, has predicted 15 million fewer jobs in the UK alone and 80 million in the US over the next few years. A study by Oxford Martin School University estimates that 50% of professions will disappear in Europe within the next 10 to 20 years. Industrial society, centered on the production of material goods, is fading—due in part to a series of factors such as technological progress, globalization, the spread of media, and mass education—and is giving way to a post-industrial era centered on the production of intangible goods such as services, information, symbols, values, and aesthetics. The full epochal transition from industrial to post-industrial society has not yet occurred, and most policymakers continue to address the new, changing reality according to the rules and criteria of the old industrial model, failing to consider the evolving scenarios. But to plan the future, we must first foresee it. This is why the Five Star Movement has commissioned a forecasting study on how work will evolve over the next decade, drawing on the contributions of some of the leading labor experts. The study will be publicly disclosed for the first time during the conference on January 18th and 19th in the Aula Magna of the Chamber of Deputies.
