I used a 3/8" plate steel 2’x4’ and the challenge was fitting all of the ring's parts into the stock! The fire pot is over 125 years old it came with my house, and no one can honestly tell me where it came from or why it was here at the farm. It weighs hundreds of pounds and it is thick cast steel. We hang around the fire in this pot every summer weekend, and now with the new grill ring will be able to hang around talk and eat!!!
