Going EV #7 – The Journey That Nearly Caught Me Out

After years of driving EVs, there's one journey I still remember more than any other. Back when I owned a 22 kWh Renault Zoe, I set off on a trip from Nottingham to Manchester that pushed both the car and my confidence to their limits. With limited range and far fewer charging options than we have today, I genuinely wasn't sure I was going to make it. In this episode of the Going EV series, I recreate that exact same journey in my BMW iX to see just how much EV ownership has changed. Along the way, I look back at what charging used to be like, how range anxiety has evolved, and why I think today's EV experience is about far more than simply having bigger batteries.
