Our next #youtubepodcast guest I met when she was in #prison as a kid, she was deep in #addiction, #trauma and a #cycle of #crime. Today though, Barkaa is powerhouse artist, having just performed at the ARIAs who has crawled her way out of the dark. With so much #traumainformed #livedexpertise and insight into her #journey, this is a yarn that is not to be missed for #changemakers and #allies . Barkaa reflects at many stages from a #policy perspective into #justice, forced child removal and out of home care and the power of Aboriginal language revitalisation in #healing. It is the power of her insight that many of us need to hear more of. This is an episode that will inspire many, no matter where they are from that may be dealing with cycles or disadvantage that they feel like they can't escape. This podcast provides visibility to the opportunity to change your life despite the challenges in your way. We hope leaders and policy makers hear the stories of lived experience and take the wisdom from this to inform how they consider prison policy, particularly post release and thoroughfare support for people in custody. We hope that the justice and community sector sees the critical need for education and community pathways to keep young people engaged that for whatever reason are falling through the gaps in mainstream education settings.
