Dr. Maya Angelou at Evergreen, “Rainbow in the Clouds.”

On February 18, 2007 renowned author, poet and literary legend, Dr. Maya Angelou spoke to more then 3,000 people in the College Recreation Center’s gym. She was welcomed by President Les Purce and then introduced by Dr. Joye Hardiman. Maya Angelou held the Evergreen and community audience rapt with her story telling, singing, and inspirational words. She also recognized the accomplishments of her longtime friend and colleague, Faculty Emerita Dr. Maxine Mimms.
