Course Description If you or your team is involved in data center technology, whether it is in a sales, support or operations capacity, it is important to have a good understanding of the overall data center and the issues facing data center managers on a daily basis. The Data Center Power Management course series is a great way to quickly learn the ins and outs of power in the data center. It is geared for everyone from the data center novice to the most experienced IT and facilities technicians and managers. The Data Center Power Management course covers an overview of power in the data center, including rack power management, power distribution units, transfer switches, UPSs, generators, and power cabling. The course also covers energy efficiency in the data center, discussing the various metrics for measuring energy efficiency as well as some concrete suggestions for reducing the energy usage in the data center. There are three other courses in this series: • Fundamentals of Infrastructure Management – Covers an overview of data centers, physical security, availability and preventive maintenance, and data center floor planning • Fundamentals of Data Center Cooling – Covers data center cooling and air distribution • Fundamentals of Data Center Operations – Covers data center management, including data center management tools, ITIL, and IT Service Management In This Course You Will Learn: • Describe the power infrastructure in the data center • Understand the primary power problems and how to address them • Describe the different UPS topologies and how a UPS works • Understand how power is distributed in the data center • Calculate how much power is required in the data center • Describe what impacts energy efficiency • Use methods to improve data center energy efficiency Prerequisites While there are no prerequisites for this course, it is important to have a good understanding of the overall data center and the issues facing data center managers on a daily basis. It is recommended that you be involved in data center technology, whether it is in a sales, support or operations capacity.
