Chinese-built geothermal power plant elevates Kenya’s energy sector
The Sosian Menengai Geothermal Power project on the floor of the Great Rift Valley is at the forefront of Kenya’s drive to deliver clean, reliable, and affordable energy to all its citizens. The Chinese-built plant is the first independent power producer to generate electricity in Kenya under a public-private partnership. Its success has since inspired other ventures that could potentially hasten Kenya’s dream of phasing out fossil fuels.
