Villaggio Minerario abbandonato di Formignano

Visit to the village or abandoned village of Formignano, a small hilly town in the Savio Valley, overlooking the Cesena hamlet of Borello. Until 1962 Formignano was the site of an important sulfur mine. The definitive closure and consequent abandonment of the plant, caused by the high costs for the extraction of the material at great depth, led to a rapid decline of the infrastructures, now on the way to irreversible degradation.
