It has the potential for more gamemodes to be a sort of Mecha-meta verse in gaming experience, I see the potential for this game to have a story mode, PVP, big team battles, and much more, like a Tower defense mode. The call in airdrops could be used for turrets, the dream and the vision for more is there and the unique changes they've implemented for balance lends to that potential. Hurricane shield rework was game changing for what I thought was possible. If you play Covert ops and spawn Maka on the map while pinging red lights and shoot down 7 or 8 troop ships each with a Gen 3 striker in the span of 5 minutes then it feels like a horde mode. It feels like playing Helldivers in a way, and that's technically an extraction shooter. To my knowledge the only game that comes close to experimenting to this degree in this way was Battleborne, which had a dedicated PVE mode and loot. The other hero shooters on the market don't have permanent PVE modes (yet, to my knowledge). I call this game a hero-esque shooter because it's not really a hero shooter and calling it simply a hero shooter is like calling a 4X game like Stellaris or Civ 6 a Strategy game compared to something like Starcraft. Categorical game genres are a close approximation but lacks accuracy especially when something experiments to such a degree. In another light, this game Hot patched in a PVE mode of Covert OPS in Season 0 (mid august) compared to how other games like Marathon are taking a season before they release their PVE mode (Vault Breaker estimated to come out in July of S2). Like the changes I've seen and read are aligned with what players are asking for, it just takes time. a short blurb of some of the things we asked for and got: -We got PVE modes -We got a better store that isnt RNG and has a lot of things that can now be unlocked via red coins -We got Less FOMO -We got pity for supply boxes AND reduced it from 400 to 300 -Buffed red coin rewards all around -Red coins don't reset between seasons -More inventory space -More loot -Balance adjustments almost every 2 weeks since about March And more. -End of season rewards -More progression long term (Things I want still, Better ranking system, Playstation launch) There's a lot going on in this game and it has a lot of different identities which is a charm. It is both a unique pro and a con because it's not contained in a simple categorical assignment compared to other games that fall in line into the mold of previous success. It feels like a long drawn out process of the invention of Pepperoni Pizza in NY from the standard Pizza of old and tradition -but like for video games. Because I'll be honest, if it was Only Verge or Only Mash, I probably wouldn't be sticking around after season 0. The potential is there, and it's chipping it's edges closer to being a cut gem with polish. Gameplay is peak, and IF they keep pushing and breaking limits this WILL be a juggernaut Titan in the gaming space. Trust.
