Mamma — Sergio Franchi, dramatic tenor (1976)

Sergio Franchi was a dramatic Italian-American tenor. Born in Codogno, Italy in 1926, he possessed one of the greatest voices ever; unfortunately, today he is largely forgotten. Many of Sergio's recordings have never been released on CD. Some LP transfers are available on YouTube but in poor quality, so I have started to make my own high-quality digital transfers and restorations. Here he sings Bixio and Cherubini's famous song "Mamma", displaying his voice from a full-throated open G4 all the way to a pianissimo B-flat. Please note Kirby has posted an alternative master of this recording on his channel; the guitar and ambiance is warmer, but Sergio's voice is more distant.
