#34º EPISÓDIO – STEFÂNY LEILSON - PROFESSOR DE NATAÇÃO DOS AUTISTAS

In our 34th episode, AutismoCast welcomes a guest who has transformed Physical Education into a powerful tool for inclusion, development, and quality of life for people with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and other atypical developmental conditions. Fifteen years ago, while attending to his first student with ASD, he realized the lack of information and specialized professionals in the area. From this challenge, he dedicated himself intensely to studies on atypical development and Behavior Analysis, seeking training with leading national experts, participating in congresses and courses focused on clinical intervention. A swimming specialist, he found in the water a privileged environment to promote the teaching of behavioral, motor, and social skills. The recognition of his work led more and more families to seek his services, expanding his work to specialized clinics and driving the creation of a multidisciplinary team. Currently, he is the creator and director of Pratique Acqua, a pioneering company in São Luís (MA) in teaching behavioral and sports skills to people with atypical development. With a structure that includes a branch, services in 10 partner clinics, and home interventions, the project has already impacted more than 250 families, establishing itself as an important reference in promoting inclusion through sport. In this episode, we will talk about the benefits of physical activity and swimming for autistic people, the challenges faced by families, the importance of evidence-based intervention, and how sport can contribute to the development of autonomy, communication, and quality of life.
