PATAS GROUP (Murry) — Album ‘KEBUN NANAS’ (1974)

PATAS Band is a Surabaya-based musical group founded around 1967 and under the auspices of the Attorney General's Office. The band played a significant role in the development of Indonesian music in the 1970s, hosting a number of legendary musicians before joining major national bands. Legendary PATAS Band Members: MURRY (Kasmuri), a drummer from Surabaya, is a former guitarist and drummer for Patas Band. In 1969, he was recruited by Tonny Koeswoyo to replace Nomo Koeswoyo in the band Koes Bersaudara, which later gave birth to the legendary group Koes Plus. SYECH ABIDIN, a drummer and early member of Patas Band, later left to become the drummer for the renowned progressive rock group AKA (Apotik Kali Asin). PATAS Band's other members included other renowned musicians such as Maxie Mamiri (rhythm guitarist) and Wempy Tanasale. Role in Indonesian Music History PATAS Band frequently performed at various entertainment events in Surabaya and became a kind of melting pot for musicians who would later dominate the Indonesian pop and rock music scene in the 1970s.
