Today we are meditating on John 14:15-24, a beautiful passage filled with the promises of Jesus concerning love, obedience, the Holy Spirit, and the abiding presence of God. Jesus begins with these powerful words: "If ye love me, keep my commandments." True love for Christ is revealed not merely in our words, but in our willingness to obey Him and follow His ways. Then Jesus gives a promise that continues to encourage believers today: "And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter." Jesus knew His disciples would face challenges, fears, and uncertainties, yet He assured them that they would not be left alone. "I will not leave you comfortless: I will come to you." What a powerful promise! The Lord has not abandoned His people. Through the Holy Spirit, His presence remains with us, guides us, teaches us, and strengthens us. Jesus also declares: "Because I live, ye shall live also." Our hope is not based on circumstances. I am not comfortless because Jesus has come to me.
